Thyme for Kids - a family, food, and franchising blog
Into food, family, or franchising? You're in the right place. The recipe for blogging here at YCA is to keep it simple, entertaining, educational, and to the point. We take one simple concept and give you our unique perspective.
From our franchisees, our students, or our corporate staff - if you hear it here, you know it's all us, all original and all fresh. We might tell you the story of a bright young chef who taught his instructor a few things, then next maybe the latest culinary trend (beef tongue sliders?). There is nothing ordinary about any of our franchises, and we delight in sharing the extraordinary "scoop"! Enjoy, comment, and please share.

Franchisee Collage-4

It comes down to one critical thing: franchisee satisfaction. When our franchisees are happy, we’re happy. And what makes franchisees happy? A proven business model in a successful franchise system, experienced management/culinary arts/curriculum teams and a knowledgeable support team, among many others. All Young Chefs Academy franchisees receive ongoing marketing and public relations support as well as assistance with advertising materials.

As an active member of the culinary community, YCA stands out with its strong food industry partnerships, effective brand recognition and trademarks and freedom from major supply contracts. Couple these items with exclusive territories, excellent training and continual education and you’re well on your way to the recipe for success.

To support the growing brand and further enhance YCA’s efforts toward customized, educational culinary curriculum for children of all ages and incredible franchisee training, we’ve recently hired two new executive team members. Jamie Skinner has joined Young Chefs Academy as operations manager, and Kathy Arvidson is on board as the curriculum specialist.

Always adapting our curriculum to fit the food trends of the day, Young Chefs Academy’s March curriculum revolves around National Nutrition Month. This goes hand-in-hand with our philosophy of teaching children to cook wholesome food, and is a perfect example of the forward-thinking, relevant curriculum that YCA provides its students and franchisees.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Young Chefs Academy!

At Young Chefs Academy, we believe that Irish eyes are smiling because they’ve just eaten something tasty! As we celebrate everyone’s favorite green holiday, we turn to some of our favorite Irish-inspired food to get in the spirit.

If you’re cooking a St. Patrick’s Day meal at home, take a break from boiled corned beef and cabbage and spice it up with a corned beef hash using potatoes, carrots and turnips. Top it with eggs (your Young Chef at home can help!) and a green hollandaise using spinach or peas, and you’ve got an Irish-inspired breakfast-for-dinner that will make you feel like doing a jig of excitement.
